uses of the erotic
Photography by Molly Lindsay
Glasgow school of art Graduate Molly Lindsay explores desire and fear through her projects 'Traces' and 'Uses of the erotic'.
"In my work I make use of both photography and painting to convey my themes, which are centred around the female gaze. In one project I visually communicate the experience of a woman walking alone by tracing my journey into the landscape using the colour red to allude to feelings of danger and being hunted. The red line continues into the next project Uses of the Erotic, which is a visual response to Audre Lorde’s essay. I want to understand and challenge classical depictions of the nude in order to reclaim a definition of the erotic through a female photographer’s eyes."
